Pride of Ringwood is primarily a bittering hop but also exhibits spicy and fruity aromas when used as a late addition.
Developed by Albert Steven Nash in the early 1950s as part of a Calton & United Breweries hop breeding program, it quicklyl became the most popular hop in Australia. Pride of Ringwood delivers a strong resin character with some woody undertones of cedar or oak while being earthy and herbal.
It is often used as a bittering hop due to its high AA content but it has been used with a lighter touch in late boil additions. It is especially suited to Australian lagers or Australian Sparking Ale.
